Designing a Hundred-Category General Store Around Search
A Self-Serve Deals Engine That Keeps a Storefront Current Every Week
A UAE general trading store selling everything from coffee to baby care needed a storefront that makes a hundred categories feel navigable. We built search-first merchandising with a daily deals engine underneath.

Context
A general store is a navigation problem
Neocart sells air fryers, cat litter, coffee capsules and baby wipes. There is no browsing journey that connects them. The old storefront tried to present the catalogue as a hierarchy, which meant most of it was effectively unreachable.
Goal
Design for search, merchandise for discovery
We accepted that most visits start with intent and built the header around a scoped search. Discovery was then handled separately through daily deals and category tiles, so browsing became a deliberate second mode rather than the only one on offer.
Process
The deals engine had to be self-serve
A general store lives on rotation. We built the offers surface on top of Shopify collections, so the merchandising team schedules and swaps deals from the admin directly — the homepage changes weekly without a single deployment.

Impact
A storefront that keeps up with the stock
The daily deals surface is now the most-clicked module on the homepage, and the printing services line — previously invisible online — generates its own enquiry stream.

Neocart General Trading LLC is a UAE-based online store offering electronics, grocery, beauty, hair and personal care, baby products, household items, coffee and printing services to customers across the Emirates.
